AVL Group upgrades Puerto Rico stadium with LEA amplifiers
AVL Group has completed an audio upgrade at Estadio Yldefonso Sola Morales in Caguas, Puerto Rico, using LEA Professional amplification to power loudspeakers across the stadium.

The venue, home to the Criollos de Caguas professional baseball team, had undergone a wider refurbishment including new artificial turf, lighting, seating and restrooms, but its existing audio system was considered insufficient for the updated
stadium.

Following a public tender from the municipality, AVL Group was appointed to deliver a system capable of covering the audience areas, supporting announcers and background music and creating a stronger matchday atmosphere.

“There were no
specifications to meet; they simply wanted a system that didn’t sound like the existing system, that was loud enough to cover the audience area, that could handle the narrators and background music, and create a more
hyped sporting environment,” said Alexander Rojas, vice president of AVL Group. “We felt that LEA amplifiers could easily do all of that.”

AVL Group installed nine LEA Professional Connect Series 1504 amplifiers to power 54 EAW
MK Series loudspeakers distributed throughout the stadium.

Each four-channel CS1504 delivers 1,500W per channel and supports both Hi-Z 70V/100V and Lo-Z operation on a channel-by-channel basis. The amplifiers also incorporate LEA’s Smart Power Bridge technology and 96kHz
DSP.

A Connect Series 704 amplifier, delivering 700W per channel across four channels, was installed to power loudspeakers serving the stadium’s corridors, suites and restrooms.

AVL Group used LEA’s SharkWare software to create a base amplifier
profile and distribute it across the pre-staged system.

The software provides amplifier grouping, offline system design, user access controls, locked speaker tunings and graphical EQ, as well as network monitoring of individual amplifiers and channels.

Engineers
can also use SharkWare to adjust parameters including input settings, crossovers, EQ, limiters, signal generators and load monitoring.

The installation also makes use of LEA Cloud, allowing AVL Group to remotely monitor and control the Connect
Series amplifiers over the internet without a subscription.

“The new sound system really gets the crowd going,” said Rojas. “The built-in speaker tunings in the LEA amps were great for this application, as was the remote monitoring.”
