Evolve Install has designed and installed a Martin Audio multizone sound system at Tramp Health, a members’ wellness club in London’s Mayfair.
The venue, created by the owners of nightclub Tramp, opened in May and includes communal areas, changing rooms, a main gym floor and dedicated spaces for Megaformer Pilates and HIIT classes.
Evolve Install specified different Martin Audio loudspeakers according to the output
and coverage requirements of each area.
Communal walkways, the lounge and changing rooms use Adorn ACS-40T shallow ceiling loudspeakers, while larger ACS-55T models have been installed along the main corridor.
Higher-output Adorn A80 cabinet loudspeakers were selected for the Megaformer Pilates studio and
Form, the venue’s HIIT room.
Elliot Patterson of Evolve Install said: “While the ceiling speakers are perfect for handling the low-profile background music in communal areas, the high-energy classes in the Megaformer and Form rooms naturally demanded more output.”
“The instructors and members
need audio with a bit more kick, and the A80 cabinet works exceptionally well for that.”
Patterson has worked with Tramp Health owner Luca Maggiora on audio projects for around 20 years and became involved with the new venue during its development.
A
further six Adorn A80T loudspeakers have been installed across the main gym floor, operating on a 100V line.
Patterson said: “It’s an incredibly versatile cabinet. With its eight-inch driver, it delivers excellent power and gives us the flexibility to run low-impedance or 100-volt lines
depending on the zone's configuration.
“This was my first time deploying them, and they have performed incredibly well.”
Acoustic conditions vary throughout the venue, with extensive glazing on the gym floor presenting a potential challenge for the system design. Evolve Install said wall-mounted
acoustic treatment and heavy sponge flooring help control reflections in the space.
“The gym area has a beautifully warm and rich sound,” said Patterson. “Even with a significant amount of reflective glass throughout the layout, the acoustic treatment on the walls and the
heavy sponge flooring help to control the room, resulting in a fantastic acoustic response.”
The system is also due to expand as Tramp Health adds a personal training suite, where Martin Audio Q26 loudspeakers are scheduled to be installed.
Patterson said: “As an
