A company from South Korea is trying to make AR/VR headsets a little less prominent, by installing a headset into a pair of headphones to create 'your own personal immersive space'.
Pitched as "the world's first smart headphones", The Perisphere from Geeks Loft isn't strictly an AR or
VR headset. It uses a pair of 1080p displays offering 1,800 nits of brightness to give a
53-degree field of vision that will feel like watching content on a big screen.
Perisphere combines over-ear headphones
with a small display designed to sit directly in front of your eyes for 2D and 3D
viewing. The display module is housed just above the headband that stays out of sight when not in
use, and can rotate down into the field of vision when needed.
it features active noise cancellation,
and spatial audio processing that converts stereo music to 9.1 channel surround sound. It creates a virtual acoustic
environment with 10 positioned virtual speakers.
Two stereo camera arrays enable 3D video capture in both display-down
immersive mode and display-up headphones mode. It can also provides instant recording capability without mode switching or repositioning.
