Powersoft delivers succinct audio at Penang Waterfront Convention Centre
Powersoft Quattrocanali and Mezzo amplifiers has delivered high-density audio across the Penang Waterfront Convention Centre (PWCC).

Concept Associates and Integrated Audio Visual deployed 43 Powersoft amplifiers across Northern Malaysia’s largest MICE venue, integrating native Dante routing with a Cisco network backbone to deliver scalable audio coverage across exhibition halls, conference spaces, meeting rooms, and public areas.

The
venue spans 10,443 square metres within a luxury waterfront developing on the island of Penang, accommodating up to 10,000 guests.

The venue required an audio infrastructure to match the venue’s ambitions, aiming for a solution that integrates fully with PWCC’s broader IT backbone.

The system also had to support Dante audio networking alongside AVoIP devices, network amplifiers, and control systems all within strict requirements for network stability, bandwidth, and cybersecurity compliance.

A centralised control platform was key to this project, capable of managing multiple zones
and event scenarios without adding operational complexity for venue staff. Speech intelligibility and consistent coverage were also essential across the large, divisible halls as event layouts and audience positions change from one booking to another.

The project’s AV consultant, IHDesign, specified a
Powersoft amplification platform at the centre of the audio system, with Concept Associates supplying the hardware. Integrated Audio Visual took the lead on the system integration, installing 24 Quattrocanali DSP+D amplifiers, comprising eight Quattrocanali 1204 DSP+D, 15 Quattrocanali 2404 DSP+D and one Quattrocanali
4804 DSP+D, driving the primary audio coverage across the exhibition halls, concourses, and public areas.

19 Mezzo AD amplifiers, 18 mezzo 602 AD and one Mezzo 322 AD serve the meeting rooms and VIP spaces, where the Mezzo’s form factor allows amplification
to be positioned closer to the loudspeakers without a dedicated equipment rack.

All 43 Powersoft amplifiers carry native Dante connectivity, enabling audio routing to run across the same Cisco C1300 network backbone as the venue’s IT and control infrastructure.

Allen & Heath
Dante I/O interfaces handoff between the QSC DSP processing platform and the amplifier network, while the Crestron AVoIP and control systems manage room switching, signal distribution and real-time monitoring of Powersoft amplifiers across the facility.

The system delivered a single converged infrastructure through
which audio routing, DSP processing, amplifier control, and remote diagnostics all run without a separate audio network or dedicated point-to-point cabling.

DSP adjustments and routing changes can be managed remotely through Crestron and Powersoft’s ArmoníaPlus platform without requiring technicians in the rack room.
