The UAE’s e& telecomms company has become the first operator to adopt the U6GHz network, powered by 350 MHz of wideband spectrum and 10 Gbps peak rate to support future XR and smart-city applications.
This high throughput, low-latency capacity layer can be used to power digital ecosystems such as AI-native
network operations, immersive XR applications, autonomous industrial systems, and mission-critical smart city infrastructure.
Delivered by Huawei, the network
operates with 350 MHz of contiguous bandwidth in TDD mode, represents one of the widest single-band spectrum
resources commercially available. The network is based on 256TRx and Retina MIMO technolog which features thousand-level antenna
elements and TTI-level beam scanning system to enhance network throughput and capacity.
The network has been activated in
selected high-value areas across the UAE, where initial field testing has shown a peak throughput of 10
Gbps, coverage parity with the existing C-band network, and a single-cell capacity exceeding 50 Gbps.
As the
first operator to implement U6GHz into a live commercial network, the deployment experience, field-test data, and technology roadmap
generated by e& will be used to gauge further U6GHz discussions around next-generation spectrum planning.
