Crestron has targeted the education market, releasing the Media Presentation Control (MPC) line of control solutions. The range will connect, control and route audiovisual presentation equipment in small one-projector applications.
The range is claimed to have a simple interface and push-button layout. Each MPC features a Cresnet port to add keypads and other Crestron control devices.
For larger rooms or higher levels of control, an MPC can be connected directly to an external 2-Series controller for audio processing, mic mixing or touchpanel control. Streamlined "button-only" MPC models are available for presentation rooms that utilise an external processor.
Each model features Ethernet communications and a built-in web server. Integration with Crestron RoomView software is designed to allow IT/AV managers to remotely monitor, manage and control every room on the network. Ethernet connectivity also provides a secondary web-based interface, so web-enabled devices can become virtual Crestron touchpanels. SSL encryption is claimed to provide a totally secure network connection at all times preventing students from tapping into the system.
All MPCs feature two-way communication and transport control for DVD players. Some models feature a five-button thumb-pad for navigation of onscreen menus.
