Backup establishes hardship fund for UK entertainment personnel
The Technical Entertainment Charity has announced the launch of a hardship fund, providing limited financial assistance to crew/production personnel and others working in the technical supply chain in the live events, theatre, TV and film sectors across the UK.

Backup has previously supported personnel in the live events/entertainment industry with its
‘We Make Events’ campaign, raising £100,000 to date. Light Relief agreed to match
Backup’s funding with an additional £100,000 to support the lighting company, providing an
initial fund of £200,000 allocated to the hardship fund with additional fundraising now
taking place.

The first application period will take place from 19 October 2020 (0800
GMT) to 30 October 2020 (2000 GMT), targeting resources to individuals who have
not received UK government grants from the furlough scheme and self-employment income support
scheme as well as no grants from other charitable funds.

All successful applicants
to the hardship scheme will receive funds two weeks after the closing date.
