Bob Simpson, co-founder of Electrosonic is to give a presentation at ISE 2014 entitled ‘Technology Trends in High Resolution Displays’ on the opening day of the show. This education session is presented by InfoComm.
Simpson, a frequent lecturer on AV topics and author of various publications including ‘Lighting Control Technology and Applications’, will give delegates the opportunity
to learn more about the HD display market and its new applications.
Simpson’s presentation is based on attendance at events, such as the Projection
Summit, the Society for Information Display Symposium and on factory visits. His talk will review a number of topics including high resolution displays, flat
panel display technology, illumination technologies and 4K displays.
Simpson will begin exploring pixels per inch, pixel pitch, and contrast ratios to outline what constitutes
a high resolution display and who needs and benefits from using high resolution displays.
During his presentation, Simpson will compare projector illumination technologies and
analyse whether the claims of ‘lamp free’ projector performance are justified and if laser illumination will introduce a new era of high brightness projection.
He will consider the state of the current flat panel display technologies e.g. LCD, PDP, OLED, and look at what has happened to emerging
technologies like MEMS and Electro-Wetting, and if high resolution LED rivals LCD and projection.
Lastly, he will examine the practical implications of displaying 4K
images, assess when they are needed and how they are sourced and delivered.
Bob Simpson’s ‘Technology Trends in High Resolution Displays’ will be held on 4 Feb, 1300-1400 in Room D203.
