The European Commission has given its seal of approval to a plan to launch a virtual and augmented reality coalition, exploring alternatives to meet a demand for content with enterprise customers.
The coalition will present a strategic paper by
the end of 2021, forming part of the European
Commission’s action plan to support recovery from the Covid-19
pandemic, identifying the extent to which VR and AR
technologies are deployed in the media sector, objectives
for deployment by 2026 and commitments on how the
industry can meet these objectives.
A VR media lab
will also be launched to support creative cooperation on
funded projects with VR technology.
