Feelreal is releasing its ‘smellable’ sensory mask for VR headsets, bringing smell, heat and water vapour sensations to the VR experience.
By using a ‘scent generator’ holding a replaceable cartridge containing 9 individual scent capsules,
the VR experience can be tailored with scents that best suit the kind of content
that the user is engaging with.
Natural scents like coffee, relaxing smells like lavender and
realistic scents such as gunpowder are featured.
An ionizing system allows for the sensation of
water mist, while two micro-coolers and micro-heaters create the sensation of wind and heat
with feedback haptic motors being used to simulate the effects of vibration.
Feelreal’s sensory mask
will support some VR games at launch, as well as being compatible with some 360
videos via the ‘Feelreal player’.
The mask is compatible with Samsung Gear VR, Oculus Rift,
Oculus Go, HTC Vive and Playstation VR.
The Feelreal sensory mask is available for preorder now.
