People will be able to transfer files from one device to another with a simple touch thanks to work carried out by the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.
The team has developed technology that allows special rings, structure nails or wristbands to act as user interfaces enabling files such as images and videos to be transferred directly from one screen to another by touch.
The development has been heralded as the first
step towards the interactivity of various objects and jewellery through
a cloud service.
Creators of the technology have suggested
areas of application that may include digital devices, cars,
the manufacturing industry, logistics and health care.
The VTT team
say the InTouch user interface operates with touch screens
and conforms to the NFC standard. The technology allows
file transfer either directly or via a cloud service, with
security said to be retained through the integrated security functionality.
