Harman pumps $100 million into China ops
Harman is injecting a further $100 million into its research and manufacturing operations in the People’s Republic of China.

This follows an initial investment of $75 million (€54
million) pumped in between 2007 and 2008 to establish
manufacturing and R&D operations in Shanghai, Suzhou and Shenzhen.

The
latest investment plan will see Harman partner with the
northern city of Dandong to create two new manufacturing operations
with a total joint investment of $50 million.

The
City of Dandong has provided various incentives including infrastructure build-up
and Harman says it is currently evaluating potential Chinese
companies or test facility acquisitions for the remainder of its planned investment.
