JCDecaux has embarked on a joint venture with a French airport management company in an effort to take over signage at three Paris airports.
Aéroports de Paris hopes that retaining JCDecaux will allow it to leverage and commercialise advertising space
as well as operating a televisual medium, allowing an airport to keep passengers informed. The joint venture,
due to start its activities on July 1, 2011 will operate at the Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Paril-Orly
and Paris-Le Bourget airports.
Plans to establish the entity, which is set to operate for the next
nine and a half years, will be submitted to the European competition authorities.
Pierre Graff, chairman and
CEO of Aéroports de Paris, said: “Through this partnership, we want to give a new look to
our airports, focused specifically on improving the quality of service and innovation, by means of new, fewer
but more modern advertising media and with a richer and more diverse event services offering.”
Jean-Charles Decaux,
chairman of the executive board and co-CEO of JCDecaux, said the joint venture would have a strong focus on new technologies.
