LG files patent to improve VR image quality
LG is looking to address one aspect of VR where the technology lags behind more traditional display technologies, its resolution. A patent has just been filed by the Korean company which discusses a VR display capable of alleviating the 'screen-door effect' (being able to see the gaps between pixels in a VR headset’s display), thereby improving image quality inside VR systems.

The patent describes a 'light
diffusion member' that is placed between
the display panel and the lenses.

The patent then goes on to
outline that this 'diffuses light
emitted from a light-transmitting area of
a display panel to a light-blocking
area of the display panel' and
'improves the image quality of the display.'
