LG in world first with 88-in 8K OLED at this year’s CES
LG will show a whopping 88-in 8K OLED display at CES, marking the Korean technology giant as the maker of the largest 8K OLED in the world. The 88-in surpasses the current largest OLED screen by 11-in and massively ups its resolution to 7680 x 4320.

LG has already shown a 77-in 4K OLED and developed a transparent and
flexible 77-in OLED
in June last year.

In a statement, In-Byung Kang, executive vice president and
chief technology officer at LG Display, said: “The successful development of the world’s first 8K
OLED display is a milestone for the 8K era and underscores the exciting potential of OLED.

“OLED is clearly a next-generation technology leader and for this reason, LG Display is accelerating
its research and development into OLED so that we can provide differentiated products to customers and
markets.”

The development further underlines LG’s commitment to OLED while Samsung is turning away from
the technology to focus on QLED development.

More details, including pricing, should be revealed when the
display is shown at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, January 9 to 12, 2018.
