The Rolling Stone Magazine web site is reporting that Neil Young is working on a new ultra-high quality digital audio format in a project called Prono.
A number of obscurely named Trademark applications suggest
that the rocker is working away on a high
resolution alternative to MP3 as a digital audio
solution. He has also been previously quoted as saying
that he had conversations with Steve Jobs about the
project before his death, and also frequently expresses frustrations
about the quality of MP3 as an audio
listening format.
However, since legal proceedings on such matters
can be long and complicated, holding one’s breath is not advised.
