Chinese online gaming firm NetDragon has made an approach to acquire British education products company Promethean World in a $130m deal.
It is thought the bid is in its early
stages with and, if successful, will go forward in the
next two months.
Promethean, a 17-year old company, began selling
interactive displays and has since launched Promethean Planet, an online,
interactive education community. Last year it bolstered its software and online
offerings with ClassFlow, an interactive lesson-delivery and formative-assessment system.
Headquartered
in Blackburn in the UK, Promethean is estimated to do
business in 110 countries with products in 1.3 million classrooms
worldwide. Around half its revenues come from the US and the rest internationally.
