A project in the Canadian city of Montreal saw people on the street speaking words onto the side of a building. The initiative, created by new media and entertainment studio the Moment Factory, was aimed at bringing the art of public speaking back into the city. For two months, between Wednesday and Saturday and beginning at dusk, members of the public spoke into a megaphone which took their words and converted them, in real time, into visual shapes.
These were projected onto
the front of the great
UQAM Président-Kennedy building in
the city – turning it
into a giant oral canvas.
Citizens were encouraged to talk
about things they care
about thereby leaving an imprint
of their voices on the urban landscape.
