A new interactive installation at the Queensland University of Technology combines multitouch displays with large format edge-blended projection to create The Cube. This interactive learning space includes 48 55†MultiTaction Cell displays from MultiTouch and was installed by Pro AV Solutions of Queensland.
A focal point of the installation is a two story-tall 14-metre wide virtual reef, where 20 of the interactive
screens are seamlessly matched with a Panasonic projection system.
According to the QUT’s dedicated website for The Cube: “The Virtual
Reef is a life-sized marine ecosystem expanding across two levels of the new Science and Engineering Centre. Multi-touch technologies enable
the user to manipulate, intimately explore and interact with the reef world, specific behaviours and relationships.
“Users will have the
opportunity to go beyond the cinematic experience and interact with the marine world. Each interaction has associated content designed
to complement the aims of the National Curriculum and provide an exploratory learning experience.â€
The Cube is open to the
public at QUT’s Gardens Point campus in Brisbane, Australia, following a grand opening by Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard. It was
built by Pro AV Solutions Queensland – Australian member of the Global Presence Alliance – and is one of the
biggest spaces of its kind in the world.
