Regus sees 'unprecedented demand' for hybrid working

Regus sees
Office rental firm IWG (owners of the Regus brand) has reported "unprecedented demand" for its flexible work products as workers contemplate a return to the office after the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The world of work has been permanently changed by the pandemic,” said
IWG’s chief executive, Mark Dixon, on a call with analysts.

“The greater flexibility
demanded by enterprises and by workers has created a dynamic market backdrop for
us to grow into in years to come,” Dixon said.

The chief exec
added that short-term, drop-in use of its buildings by members, had represented
under 1% of occupancy and revenues prior to Covid-19, but growing demand for
temporary desk rentals meant this could account for 5% of revenues in future.

Earlier this month IWG announced a deal with the UK government which allows
civil servants to drop into private office space in IWG buildings in 10 cities.
