Samsung has demonstrated a 14†transparent OLED display, building on its 4.3†model unveiled last year. Read on for video content.
The Korean electronics giant showed off its largest transparent OLED screen,
incorporated in a computer monitor, at this year’s CES. The company
mooted multiple options for the technology’s commercial development including displays on car
windscreens that allow drivers to visualise satellite navigation or dashboard information such
as speed or mileage.
The prototype screen boasts 40 per cent
transparency and Samsung says the technology is still in a research and
development stage.
The company also predicts corporate applications for the transparent OLED
panels, envisaging their use in dividing partitions in offices, allowing employees
to view multiple documents electronically. This idea could be extended to encompass videoconferencing solutions.
