Samsung will not be exhibiting at ISE 2021 in Barcelona this June as the coronavirus pandemic continues to take its toll on exhibitions and events.
A reliable source within Samsung revealed to Inavate that health considerations and transportation concerns have made
it impossible for the company to participate as planned.
The display giant has traditionally had a significant presence
at the show, taking an entire hall within the Amsterdam RAI. It had continued with substantial investment
in its participation at the Fira de Barcelona and its cancellation leaves a nearly 1,000 sq m
hole in the 2021 ISE floor plan.
At present ISE is continuing with the Barcelona show but has
announced it will support its exhibitors, waiving all fees on booths that are cancelled or reduced by
March 5. There’s no indication that ISE has changed tack at this point, although show organisers are
prepared for a significantly smaller showing in Spain than previous ISE events. ISE organisers hope to shore this
up with an online programme and a series of smaller, local events across Europe.
