A spokeswoman for Samsung Display has told news agency Reuters that it will end LCD production in South Korea and China by the end of 2020.
Falling demand and a supply glut have
prompted the decision and one of two LCD
production lines in South Korea was suspended in
October according to a statement
published on Reuters yesterday.
Instead the company is set to focus on
mass production of more advanced quantum dot screens.
A company statement published on Reuters confirmed: “We
will supply ordered LCDs to our customers by
the end of this year without any issues.”
