Stereolize claims largest touchscreen with 234’
Stereolize, multimedia presentation specialist, created a 234” interactive touch screen for the ‘Microsoft Cinema’ at CeBIT in Hannover, Germany.

Munich based stereolize, which has handled Microsoft’s core presentations at CeBit for eight years in a row, claimed the display was the
largest touchscreen in the world.

The idea behind the presentation was to “supersize” the familiar mobile touch screen.

The touchscreen was created with
high gloss security glass that weighed approximately half a ton and was custom mounted on a steel frame prior to other fair building
activities. After meticulous cleaning a dedicated rear-projection foil was put into a frame and placed behind the glass window.

A Barco XLM HD30
projector was used to generate the impression of a self-illuminated display.

Touch functionality was based on Ventuz and radartouch technology. An invisible laser curtain
generates two-dimensional position data with an update rate of 40ms. The touch software is capable of multitouch but for the purposes of presentation
only one point of touch was needed.

Seterolize programmers and designers then had to create an interface that was usable by the presenter.
A feedback impression was created and the whole interface moved to follow the presenter’s movement on stage.

All presentations were completely restructured and
redesigned to work with black backgrounds and to differ from the average powerpoint presentation.

CeBIT covers digital technology and was held from March 1 – 5, 2011.
