NEC and BenQ are the first manufacturers to meet a new TCO certification for short throw and ultra short throw projectors.
TCO Development has developed the new criteria in an effort to reduce specific challenges presented by
UST technology.
The standards body says the challenge with ultra short throw technology has been the
picture quality produced by the wide-angle lens and mirror technology. It claims that image distortion and higher
energy consumption are common issues with these products.
With unique criteria including luminance uniformity, wide colour
gamut and limited energy consumption, TCO hopes the new certification will reduce these problems.
The NEC NP-U300X
is the first TCO Certified XGA UST projector and the BenQ MW851UST is the first TCO
Certified WXGA UST projector.
