Thorpe Park’s latest attraction harnesses VR tech
UK theme park Thorpe Park has revealed details of its virtual reality Ghost Train ahead of its opening on May 6, 2016. Derren Brown, English celebrity illusionist, has worked on the design of attraction that uses VR HTC Vive head sets and takes place in a 20 metre long Victorian train carriage that is suspended in mid-air with iron chains.

The park describes the 13 minute
experience as “the wold’s only fully immersive psychological
attraction” that offers 12 possible journeys and
two different endings.

Visitor attractions are increasingly tapping
in to virtual reality and display technologies
to offer powerful immersive experiences and stand out
in a competitive market that has seen
theme parks and cinemas not only compete with
each other but against home entertainment technologies.
