TOA Electronics Europe has announced that it has achieved EN 54-16 certification for its network-based SX-2000 voice evacuation system.
EN 54 parts 16 (Voice alarm and indicating
equipment), along with part 24 (system loudspeakers) and part
4 (power supply equipment), all come into force across EU
member states in March 2011. TOA says it is
the first manufacturer to meet all three parts applicable
to voice alarm components.
EN 54 stipulates the product
and testing requirements for voice alarm components in fire detection
and alarm systems. The norm is put in place
in order to improve the communication and effectiveness of installed systems.
