NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is exploring the adoption of ‘hologram’ receptionists that can work alongside hospital staff in Scottish hospitals.
The hospital trust’s procurement department has extended
a market sounding document via Public Contracts Scotland
, which aims to explore current market capability
in ‘holographic technology’ that can work alongside its
existing hospital receptionist staff.
The adoption could see lifelike
‘holographic’ avatars providing wayfinding services to patients and
visitors throughout the hospitals in multiple languages, supplementing
or perhaps replacing physical receptionists in hospital spaces.
The market sounding process is currently ongoing.
