VR-headset developer, Varjo, has announced its XR-4 series headset, which aims to replicate human-quality vision in XR environments
The headset uses dual 20-megapixel cameras powering up to 51 PPD passthrough and a gaze-driven XR autofocus system, which Varjo claims to be the first of its kind.
The headset includes an advanced sensor fusion, combining 300 kpix extended range LiDAR, 200 Hz eye tracking and ambient light reconstruction cameras.
For audio, the XR-4 is designed for collaboration with integrated 3D spatial audio and dual noise-cancelling microphones.

With a field of view spanning 120 degrees x 105 degrees, the XR-4 uses custom, full-dome aspheric lenses which features 28 million pixels and 200 nits of brightness, as well as local dimming for improved contrast.
Additionally, the XR-4 is compatible with SteamVR tracking and provides support for Ultraleap’s Leap Motion 2 hand tracking module as part of a kit.
